Toy Story 3, First Day out, Friday June 18th

Bill was kind enough to suggest we all go to the second showing of Toy Story 3. We opted out of the 3-D version. The effect bothers Nathan too much! Fun movie, but not a lot of heart until the end. It made up for the entire movie and made all 4 of us cry!
I should mention that Evan is still in Mae Sot, Thailand which is why we did not take him!

Nathan to the Orthodontist

Thursday the 17th, Nathan had to visit Dr. Quick. Sadly, we learned that now it is time for him to be fitted for the long term set of braces. Cha ching Cha ching! Three,
3, kids in braces! Ouch!
So very sorry my little Nate!

My first Hydrangeas! June 15th

Last year, a lovely lady answered some questions for me about the plants in her yard. Before I left, she gifted me with seeds, basil and rootings of hydrangeas. They bloomed! Now, where to plant them in our clay infested yard is a big problem!

New Glasses for Dad! Monday June 14

Bill's glasses broke over the weekend. He had to have a new eye exam and off we went to Success Vision where our friend Lee Parham assisted us. Of course, we all had to go and be sure we liked the ones he picked out since we are the ones looking at him!

And while we are there, try on some for ourselves!

Mandisa! Sunday, June 13

Haley I went to the Arkansas Women's Show this weekend. The main reason I wanted to go was to have her see Mandisa perform live. She had her entire band and back up singers with her. I have seen her for years at Women of Faith but only with a keyboard player or soundtracks. She was great!

Helping the Wessons, Saturday June 12

Laura Wesson just had twins. Ladies from church have been taking turns cleaning her house. Today, it was our turn! Haley, Alyssa, Laura Grace, Heather, Me, Laura and the babies!

June 10, Haley's last day of school!

Haley had to go to school until Thursday to make up snow days. Today was the school field day!

Wednesday June 9, Poor Fair High School

The builders began taking the roof of Fair HS. The damage is very extensive. It is wonderful that no one was in the classrooms at the time!

June 8. Teachers luncheon at school

At Fair High School, the last day is traditionally a teachers luncheon where we honor the people retiring. Sadly, today we say goodbye to Sammie Jamell, our special education department head. I have worked with her since 1989!

Monday, June 7th Danny Trawick

Today was Danny Trawick's funeral. On the way across the river, the clouds were doing really weird, close encounter-ish things.

The only time we had a view of the chapel. It was standing room only inside, in the aisles and in the lobby were we had to stand and listen with a crowd of others. Sad- no coke signs.

They had this picture on display on the table in the lobby. Danny is on the right.
Notice the skinny guy to the left behind then Governor Clinton. It is Bill Nesbitt! Notice the guy to the right behind the Governor- Banjo Bill Anderson!
This was the official ceremony declaring June 3, 1986 as Arkansas Bluegrass Week.

Sunday June 6th, the turtle encounter

On the driveway into Grace Church, Haley and I were "planting" posters announcing the youth bake sale. Where we stopped was a poor turtle that got caught by the curb. Haley carried him across the street the way he was headed.

Saturday June 5th, White Wagon Farms Nursery

I just discovered White Wagon Farms last month. Turns out that Cathy Wagonnish, the lady who hired Bill at Systematics, is the owner! Bill had a great time catching up with her. While looking around, I noticed this sweet lady sitting on the bench and thought how familiar she looked. Then I realized that it was Ms. Kitty Longstreth! We had a wonderful, yet short visit with her. She is now 92 years young! I know Ms. Kitty still has a direct link to God's ear!

Lovely blooms at a wonderful nursery.

Part of our purchase- all at 20% off! Yeah!

Nathan and I had to hurry back to Hillcrest for our hair cut appointments. Turned out Mr. Kim was running behind and since we were late, that was great!

A Miracle captured on digital film, Friday June 4

Nathan had the broom inside the house for some reason. I casually said, "Why not go sweep the front porch?" and he did! Thanks Nathan!

Thursday June the 3rd- Library Day

Today, we went to three, yes 3 libraries in Little Rock within 2 hours to locate the books that Haley and Nathan needed. (alright, I had some reserved also...) Yes, we do support our local libraries!

June is here!

June 1st, Tuesday

Well, the school where I work is getting gutted. This is just a small portion not yet hauled away.

Wednesday, June 2
I walked outside and across the street, the yard was covered with miniature mushrooms! I had to get Haley out to take pictures.

And here is one of the pictures she took:

Memorial Day at the Arkansas National Cemetery. First time we ever went and it was very inspiring. Something we will need to every year!

This week at the Nesbitt house- May 24 to 30, 2010

Monday, May 24, 2010

Had to go to the State Revenue office to pay my taxes for my Hearts and Crosses by Denise. In the lobby is this scale. Wonder why it is there? Maybe to be sure you weigh less when you leave than when you went in? Do they weigh you before and after to be sure you have completely emptied your pockets?

Wednesday May 26, 2010

Wednesday was the day we had to say farewell to Evan. He and the Project 222 Thailand team left for Mae Sot. He will be gone for 6 weeks. We had to get up at 3:30am. I went to bed at midnight. He had to be there at 5 a.m. YES! He has his passport!

The team that will be serving.

The last picture- up the escalator and away.
However, my day was just beginning as well! I went out to the parking lot and Bill's car would not start. Airport security tried to jump it without success. I called a wrecker at 7 and because of a wreck on I-30, he did not get there until 9:00. Bill came to pick me up so I could get my van and get to school. However, unknown to me, a storm last night destroyed the roof of my school and when I arrived, it was then I discovered school had been cancelled!

Graduation was that very evening at Verizon arena. Our seniors that walked were Taylor, Christyl, Chi Chi and Zack.

Thursday May 27, 2010
On Thursday the staff at Fair HS reported to school. Around 2 pm, I was able to got to my office. This is the view from my desk. Just minor water damage from where the roof collapsed from water all the way down the hall! It created a tidal wave of water that literally knocked down classroom walls washing desks, papers and everything into the hallway!

Friday, May 28, 2010
On the way to pick up Nathan, Haley and I spotted a pick up truck with neatly lined up mannequins! It was just too funny! We raced down the freeway to get a picture of them!

Saturday May 29, 2010
We went to El Dorado to visit Grandmother Nesbitt. When in El Dorado, we must patronize the Spud Nut store!

Sunday May 30, 2010
Just seemed like a fudge making kind of day! Haley turned it into a photographic essay.

At church, we spotted the baby geese. They have grown so much! There are 2 less that there were in the past. Bill said like the sermon today, it is the circle of life.
